The Zebra MC9 series of enterprise mobile computers has been the most successful, most enduring and most widely sold model series in the company’s history, arguably the most successful mobile computer in the world. For two decades it has been the work horse of manufacturing, logistics and countless other vertical sectors delivering standards of ruggedness and functionality that set the benchmark for others to try and emulate.
During its lifetime it has been upgraded and refreshed from the original MC9000, through the MC91xx models to the current model devices in the 9200 range. New processors, scanners and components maybe, but the original design was spot on, and has stood the test of time.
Eventually and inevitably Zebra stopped making the MC9090 some 5 years ago, and have recently announced that they will no longer support the MC9090G (gun grip model variant) in Q4 this year – namely no more Zebra repairs or technical support if it goes wrong.
For many of our customers the trusty old MC9090G does the job and this will be unwelcome news, particularly if this forces a replacement program that will eat into your IT budget next year. Fortunately we will be continuing to provide a repair service, so that you can extend the life of your assets until you are ready to replace them – visit the Pen Mobile Repair Service portal on here, or if you want to discuss the purchase of additional refurbished units, or new replacement devices, contact one of our engineers.
